Washington, D.C. — Federal Workers Against DOGE released a statement following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to allow the Trump administration to proceed with sweeping workforce cuts across the federal government while litigation continues.
The unsigned Supreme Court order allows the Trump administration to move forward with executive orders directing agencies to undertake significant job reductions in coordination with its February 11 Executive Order, threatening the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of dedicated public servants and the American people. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was the sole dissenting voice.
“Federal workers are the backbone of our nation’s government, providing essential services to millions of Americans every day. The Supreme Court’s ruling undermines the stability of our workforce and the integrity of public service. We are not faceless bureaucrats; we are nurses at Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals, scientists at the CDC, air traffic controllers, and countless other professionals who keep our government functioning,” said Aisha Coffey, a spokesperson for Federal Workers Against DOGE.
“It is tempting to make public statements picking apart the nuances of what this decision means, but the fact remains—relying on the courts to save Americans from Trump’s dangerous, illegal orders is a fool’s errand. Instead, it is time for federal workers to unlock our power,” added Jay Smith, a member of Federal Workers Against DOGE.
“We stand united in opposition to these workforce cuts and ask that all federal workers prepare to resist orders that exceed the president’s authority. It is time for us to say: ‘We refuse to execute orders that exceed the President’s power and do irreparable harm to the people we serve. Hear us loud: we refuse’.”
Federal Workers Against DOGE is a coalition of federal employees, allies, and advocacy groups committed to mobilizing the federal workforce to defend democracy and essential government services.
